South Charlotte is home to several popular public dog parks, including the expansive William R. Davie Park dog park, which features areas for large and small dogs, and Ray’s Fetching Meadow at McAlpine Creek Park, known for its smaller fenced area in a larger scenic park. Beyond Mecklenburg County, you can find the Anne Springs Close Greenway dog park in Fort Mill, SC, and a large off-leash area at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. For a unique experience, consider visiting a social dog bar like Lucky Dog Bark and Brew or using the Skiptown facilities, which offer both dog parks and play areas in a bar setting.

South Charlotte Dog Parks
  • Located in William R. Davie Park, this is a large dog park with separate, securely fenced areas for large and small dogs, providing shade, water fountains, and ample space for running and socializing.

  • Ray’s Fetching Meadow:
Situated within McAlpine Creek Park, this smaller dog park is a great option for dogs of all sizes, located in a larger park with trails and scenic beauty.

Beyond South Charlotte
  • Anne Springs Close Greenway (Fort Mill, SC):
A popular destination for dog owners, this greenway offers an off-leash dog park in addition to many other amenities.

  • Offers a large, 70-acre off-leash area with trails and ponds, along with a dog wash station, making it a great place for active dogs.

  • Located in west Charlotte, this park features a large, 4-acre area divided for big and small dogs.

Indoor & Dog-Bar Options
  • This spot combines a dog park with a bar, offering a covered patio and play yard for dogs and a place for their owners to relax.

  • Similar to Lucky Dog, Skiptown offers a dog park environment within a bar setting, though with a focus on social, well-behaved dogs.

Please keep in mind anytime there are multiple dogs in an area, there is the chance of a fight or injury. Some common concerns are injuries to large dogs playing too roughly with smaller breeds, an unsocialized dog attacking another dog, or a puppy accidentally hurting itself.
