Why Your Cat Needs a Daily Visit (Not Every Other Day)
As a pet sitting company doing business for over 18 years in in the Charlotte, NC area, we’ve learned that a cat’s independent nature doesn’t mean they’re safe alone for extended periods. When clients ask about every-other-day visits for their cats, we always say no—and for good reason. Cats, as we know, can get into all sorts of mischief.
Here are just two stories from our years of experience that show why “better safe than sorry” is our company policy.
The Case of the Cardboard Box
A client recently moved into a new house, and her living room was filled with moving boxes. One afternoon, she returned home to an unusually quiet house. After searching everywhere, she finally heard faint meows coming from a large cardboard box. Her curious kitty had climbed inside and couldn’t get out.
Now, imagine if this client had been on vacation, relying on every-other-day visits. That poor cat would have been trapped for nearly 48 hours, without food, water, or a way to escape. This is a real-life risk that is completely avoidable.
The Laundry Room Mystery
Another client, packed and ready for a trip, made a final sweep of the house before leaving. She closed the laundry room door, believing her cat was safely napping in the bedroom. When we arrived that evening for our scheduled visit, the cat was nowhere to be found. After a thorough search, we heard frantic meows coming from behind the dryer in the laundry room.
The owner had inadvertently trapped her cat by closing the door. Had we waited an extra day to visit, this cat would have been confined for a full 48 hours. Our daily visit ensured a quick, happy reunion.
At Love and Kisses Pet Sitting, your cat’s safety is our top priority. The risks of every-other-day visits—from getting stuck in hidden places to illness or injury going unnoticed—are too high. For the peace of mind of every cat owner in Charlotte and surrounding areas, we proudly require and provide daily visits.
