Does Your Dog Smell Like Yeast? Here Are Some Tips To Help You
I have my clients ask me what they can do to get rid of the yeast smell on their dog. Some dogs have a yeast smell from their ears, and some have in the pads of their feet. I always tell them to check with their Veterinary first however, you can try some of the things listed below. A lot of dogs get a yeast infection in dogs ears and the pads of their feel.
I have a beagle that has a yeasty smell to her. She had the mange earlier this year and was treated by a vet. I can’t get rid of that smell…I been using antifungal shampoo and it has not helped? What can I do?
First check whether the smell is coming from the ears by lifting the ear flaps. Next check whether the smell is coming from the paws. Those are the two most common places for localized yeast infections. I love using the Zymox enzyme products for skin or ears. They are available on line from Amazon and several other pet websites. Zymox worked miracles on my pet.
Durvets deodorizing shampoo is awesome. It not only smells very good, it makes their fur soft and silky. And helps the skin a lot. Pits are bad for allergies. My poor girl was a mess for a long time. I would try the durvets. Its fairly cheap and works wonders. Make sure you get the deodorizing one though. I tried the oatmeal one they have for itchy dry skin and it didn’t help any with either problem. The smell came back sooner too. You may want to switch your dogs food as well. Some of them have a great deal of yeast in them.
Most feed stores have the shampoo. But you can order it online too if no stores near you have it
