A Real Example from Our Pet Sitting Community

Not long ago, one of our clients experienced a very scary situation. Their dog managed to get into a large container of gum — the kind that comes in a big cup-sized pack.

Unfortunately, many types of gum contain xylitol, an artificial sweetener that is extremely toxic to dogs.

The dog was rushed to the veterinarian, where they induced vomiting and began monitoring her liver function. She had to stay at the veterinary hospital for several days while the vet team watched her closely.

Thankfully, the owner acted quickly — but it’s a powerful reminder of how easily something dangerous can happen.
