I have two Miniature Schnauzers that literally inhale their food. They do NOT chew it at all. I give them dry kibble and canned green beans for bulk. They are 6 and 4 years old and, so far, have suffered no ill effects from their speedy eating. However, I felt it had to be better if they slowed down and actually chewed their food. They have long skinny tongues so they can reach in the passages but a dog with a ladle-shaped tongue might not be very successful. I bought two of these, the circular spiral and the flower. The spiral has much deeper grooves and is harder for both of them to use. I would not get it again for them.The flower seems just difficult enough. I alternate with feedings.
