Project 2 Heal in Waxhaw NC

Have you heard of Project 2 Heal? Born out of Charlie Petrizzo’s decision to choose gratitude over bitterness after two major life accidents that should have left him for dead, this amazing project uses Labradors to help some of the most vulnerable people. Charlie experienced first-hand how having a devoted dog can make the impossible feel possible!  Project 2 Heal’s mission is to “breed, nurture, and train Labrador Retrievers to provide healing for children and veterans with physical and emotional challenges”. Now, there’s a mission you can stand behind, right?

Project 2 Heal is on a mission and they need your help.

Want to help? Whether you’re local or not, there are many ways to help!

Become a “pawtner”.  Donations help keep the project going!  One time and monthly donations help tremendously. You can easily set up the monthly recurring payments via the Project 2 Heal website.  By becoming a “pawtner”, you will receive monthly updates on the puppies via email, have the opportunity to play with the puppies right at the facility and receive a tour.  You will also receive a car magnet! It’s easy to pause your donation at any time.  These puppies are probably the cutest you’ve ever seen and provided so much love!

Become a volunteer.  In fact, Project 2 Heal can’t do it without you! If you are at least 16 years of age, hold a valid driver’s license, and can devote 2 hours a week to serve then you will find yourself volunteering in dog heaven!  Volunteers help with puppy socialization, fundraising and helping to plan for and run special events. But most importantly, you will be helping to make a difference!

Start a project of your own! You can directly help Project 2 Heal through your own fundraising efforts.  The sky is the limit, but you can raise money by doing things such as hosting a bake sale or lemonade stand. If you own a business or are a big boss somewhere, you can host a dress down day or offer an early leave pass in exchange for a specified donation.  It’s also really popular right now for people to fundraise for their birthday in lieu of gifts.  In fact, social media, especially Facebook makes it really easy to reach a wide audience and gather donations that way.

Shop til you drop!  There’s nothing better than shopping with a purpose.  It’s really a win-win situation!  You can feel good about shopping with partners of Project 2 Heal.  By shopping through Goodshop and amazon smile, you can save money on your shopping and a portion of the money you spend will go directly to Project 2 Heal. You can also shop FOR Project 2 Heal because they are always in need of items.  Check out their wish list!

Attend or Sponsor an event.  Attend or become a sponsor for the annual “Putt for Pups” event.  This is a yearly event that is a lot of fun for attendees and brings in big bucks for the project.  This year the event takes place on Monday, September 17th from 10 am – 8 pm at the Firethorne Country Club in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Register or become a sponsor using this link.

Take a training class.  Whether you have dogs in your life already or are ready to bring a puppy into your home, these training classes are for you.  They offer training classes for kids and adults! They offer hourly and monthly sessions.  Participants will “learn from working with many different puppies and dogs while instilling patience, responsibility, how to overcome challenges, discipline, and goal setting”.  In other words, life skills 101!  We can all benefit from that.

Are you ready to make a difference? Visit Project 2 Heal to learn more about this amazing project and their founder, Charlie Petrizzo.

If you want to volunteer with them just check out their website and register to become a hands-on volunteer.  I signed up with my daughter and we had the best time.  It gives you a feeling of accomplishment and you feel so good that did something that will help them with their amazing organization
