As a dog walker/pet sitter and cat sitter, I often get asked questions about cat food and cat nutrition. I am not a specialist in that area however, I do try to share as much info on the subject for my clients as I find it. So I came across a few links to share with anyone that has cats or kittens. So feel free to check out the links below. There are some great information and other links to click on to get some great information on cats nutrition.
Cats are obligate (strict) carnivores and are very different from dogs in their nutritional needs. What does it mean to be an ‘obligate carnivore’? It means that your cat was built by Mother Nature to get her nutritional needs met by the consumption of a large amount of animal-based proteins (meat/organs) and derives much less nutritional support from plant-based proteins (grains/vegetables). It means that cats lack specific metabolic (enzymatic) pathways and cannot utilize plant proteins as efficiently as animal proteins.
This next link is for those of you that want to feed your cat the RAW food diet. Click the link below to read more on the Raw diet for Cats. I would suggest before you start a raw cat or dog food diet to ALWAYS check with your veterinary.
