Peanut Butter Can Kill My Dog?
Peanut Butter? Who would have thought that peanut butter could kill your dog? I came across this on youtube today and I was blown away!! I give my dogs peanut butter everyday. People have been using peanut butter to get dogs to take pills for decades, so it’s got to be safe… right? Well, there have been some radical (and not-so-good-for-dogs) advances in the field of peanut butter creation recently. I will make sure it is the right brand of peanut butter. Please share this page to make sure everyone knows about this. I would hate for someone to give their dog the wrong kind. We sometimes think we are doing good for our pets and to find out this may harm them is so disturbing. I would feel so bad if giving peanut butter did harm to my pets.
I wanted to make sure that everyone knows about this as it came as a surprise to me when I first heard about peanut butter types as I feed my dogs peanut butter every day with their pills.
The new peanut butter is called Nuts and More and the other is called Crushed Nutrition
It’s becoming more and more popular for manufacturers to add Xylitol to peanut butter, when it is highly toxic to dogs in very small amounts.
Preventive Vet are keeping a list of the manufacturers who currently list xylitol in their ingredients. Here are the five companies they have on their list so far:
Go Nuts, Co.
Hank’s Protein Plus Peanut Butter
Krush Nutrition
Nuts ‘N More
P28
And it’s not just peanut butter dog owners need to worry about. Xylitol appears in certain brands of sugar free gum, jams, jellies, maple syrup, commercially baked goods such as desserts and pastries, and the list is growing.
Always look at the labels on the jars of peanut butter just to make sure it does contain Xylitol. I have always gave my dogs Skippy Peanut Butter.
This is the video I came across this morning from Dr. Andy Roark
