About the Owner

My name is Maureen McCarthy. I moved to Indian Trail NC in July 2006 with my husband  (a retired NYC Police Officer) and my beautiful daughter.  I have 3 wonderful dogs and 2 goldfish.  I would have cats, however, my husband is allergic to them.  So, I do get to spend some time loving up on the kitties when my clients have cats for me to care for.  I have always had a love for animals for as long as I can remember.

When I was a child I brought home every stray that I found, and my mom would always tell me “Maureen, you cannot save them all”  In 1980 I started a summer job working in a dog grooming shop and ended up working there for 8 years.  I then moved on to open my own grooming shop.  I have worked with dogs and cats either grooming or pet sitting since 1980.

When I moved to NC in 2006 I started Love and Kisses Pet Sitting.  I had to fly to NY for a wedding and had no one to care for my dog so I boarded him ( I would never board my dog again).  He came home with no bark and a scratched up and bloody nose ( from trying to get out of the cage).  I said I don’t want any other dog to have to go through that and that is why I started my pet sitting/dog walking business.  I was always told to follow my heart and so I did!!!  My promise to you is that I will care for your pets as I would want mine cared for.

I am a current member of Pet Sitters International, and have Feline Certification through Coursera and the University of Edinburgh.

Our pet sitters receive Pet First Aid and CPR certification from Pet Pro Hero .
